Shane's birthday in Caithness
Hello all, Salut à tous!
it has been some time since the last entry and as this blog is primarily viewed by family it may concentrate on 'family events' from now on. So this entry is about our trip to the north coast of Scotland for Shane's birthday.
Ca fait un petit bout de temps que je n'ai rien écrit, alors voilà, il y a une dizaine de jours nous sommes allés au Nord de l'Ecosse pour l'anniversaire de Shane. Comme presque partout en Ecosse les paysages étaient superbes.
Firstly yes, there are nice beaches in Scotland, although finding cows on them was a bit of a shock! And it was far too cold to swim.
Ne soyez pas étonnés, il y a de bien jolies plages en Ecosse! Même sur celle-ci il y avait des vaches...et il faisait trop froid pour se baigner! Mais Emma et moi avons fait un joli château de sable!
There was also great scenery./ Il y avait aussi de beaux paysages.
And Pictish stones./ Et des pierres pictes.
Emma having fun./ Poupette qui s'amuse.
Great coastal scenery./ Paysage côtier.
A birthday lunch at a very tacky but cute cafe./ Déjeuner d'anniversaire dans un café mémé et moderne à la fois, le style fonctionne bien!
This was also partly a work trip for Shane and here he is sitting on a Viking burial mound. For the archaeologically inclined the burial was inserted into a much earlier broch mound./ C'était aussi un voyage pour que Shane puisse étudier quelques sites, donc le voici assis sur un tertre viking.
And of course Emma wanted to 'help'./ Emma a voulu ''aider''.
More great coastal scenery on the north-east tip of Scotland.../ D'autres paysages côtiers magnifiques.
Including the Duncansby Stacks./ Duncansby Stacks.
Scenery in the centre of northern Scotland on the trip home. / Paysages au centre du Nord (!) pendant le voyage du retour.Hairy coos!/ Des vaches poilues!
Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness for lunch on the way home./ Le château d'Urquhart près du Loch Ness sur le chemin du retour.
